May 15, 2002 (Minneapolis,
Minn.) —
TEC, Inc., has been certified by the Women's Business
Enterprise National Council (WBENC) as a woman-owned company
qualified and eligible for expanded business opportunities
available through WBENC.
The
Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) (www.wbenc.com),
created in 1997, is dedicated to enhancing opportunities
and eliminating barriers in America's major business markets
for businesses a minimum of 51 percent-owned and -operated
by women and certified through WBENC. In partnership with
U.S. women's business organizations, WBENC provides access
to a national standard of certification and also promotes
the ability of WBENC-certified women's business enterprises
(WBEs) to achieve equity in procurement opportunities
by providing information about them to purchasing managers
through an Internet database.
"WBENC
conducts a rigorous and extremely thorough certification
process, including a detailed notarized affidavit, client
interviews and site visits," says TEC owner and president,
Kaie Pohi Latterner. "We're very proud to have met
WBENC's requirements for certification. Using this organization's
strengths and resources, we expect to identify new business
opportunities with fellow members and WBENC's 500-plus
corporate partners."
TEC
gains several advantages as a WBENC-certified vendor,
including:
— National
recognition by more than 500 major U.S. corporations as
a certified women's business enterprise.
—
Access to a current list of supplier diversity and procurement
executives at these domestic corporations and other entities
that accept WBENC's certification.
—
Automatic inclusion
in WBENCLink, WBENC's Internet database of certified WBEs,
which is accessible by WBENC's corporate members and selected
government agencies.
—
The opportunity
to help increase awareness of the pivotal position held
by America's 9.1 million women-owned businesses in the
U.S. economy.
